A Study of Perception of Secondary School Students on the Impact of School Counselors in Career Choice A case study of Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State

Abstract

The study assessed students’ perception of the role of school Counselors in Career Choice in Some Secondary Schools of Yauri Local Government Area in Kebbi state, Nigeria. Consequently, two hypotheses were developed in null form for testing. The study sampled students of five Secondary Schools in Yauri Kebbi state. Copies of questionnaires were distributed to the sampled schools using proportionate stratified sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Data collected for the study were analyzed on Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPPS) using mean, standard deviation and z-test. Based on the empirical analysis of the study, all of the null hypotheses of the study were accepted. Hence, the study concludes that there exists no significant difference between sampled schools regarding the perception of students on the role played by school counsellors in assisting them make a career choice.
