Optimizing Transfer of Learning as a Tool for Facilitating Academic Achievement among Undergraduate Students of Nigerian Universities

Abstract

The thrust of this paper is to highlight the function of transfer of learning and the space it occupies in the learning process. The paper explained in detail how transfer of learning can be used as a veritable tool to facilitate academic achievement. The paper began with concept and definition of learning, followed by the characteristics and factors that may affect learning. The meaning of transfer of learning, types and forms were also outlined. Principles of transfer and factors that will promote positive transfer were identified. Finally, conclusion and recommendations were provided. It was recommended that students should be made to understand the role of transfer of learning and apply it to learning.
