Furthermore, this study was conducted for the period of ten (10) years from 2012 to 2021. The population of this study comprised of thirteen (13) industrial goods firms listed in Nigerian. The sample comprised the (10) listed industrial goods firms in Nigeria as at 31st December, 2021. For the techniques of data analysis, the Feasible Generalized List Square (FGLS) regression was employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed that board size, Chief executive Compensation, audit committee independence and firm size have statistical positive and significant impact on financial reporting quality of listed industrial goods firms in Nigeria. However, it was found that board independence, board professional expertise, board gender and board shareholding are jointly, negatively and insignificantly related with financial reporting quality of listed industrial goods firms in Nigeria. Therefore, it is recommended that the board of directors of the listed industrial goods firms in Nigeria should be effectively constituted with reasonable members, an autonomous audit committee while the chief executive officer (CEO) should be adequately compensated as they are empirically found to have significant impact on the financial reporting quality of listed industrial goods firms in Nigeria.
Ephraim, Sunday, Adamu, Sa’idu Copyright (c) 2024 Ephraim, Sunday, Adamu, Sa’idu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://publications.afropolitanjournals.com/index.php/ajmbr/article/view/664 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Impact of Effective Reward Management on Organisational Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Industrial Harmony https://publications.afropolitanjournals.com/index.php/ajmbr/article/view/662
This paper looks at effective reward management as a gateway to sustaining organisational efficiency, employees’ effectiveness and industrial harmony. The issue of reward, however has over the years be giving human resources department nightmare, and one of the major tools eliciting industrial action in modern organisations. Reward management is, indeed, concerned with the formulation and implementation of strategies and policies in order to reward people fairly, equitably and consistently in accordance with their values to the organisation. It deals with the development of reward strategies and the design, implementation and maintenance of reward systems which aims to meet the needs of both the organisation and its stakeholders. Human resources noted as the most valuable asset of any organisation are human and not machines, and as such are entitled to having a fair share of the organisation’s reward or benefits. Over the years, most organisations, including government institutions or agencies do not pay adequate attention to the plight of her employees in the area of remuneration and other fringe benefits, and as such causes unnecessary conflicts. This paper, however, is builds on previous theoretical and empirical studies to determine the extent to which contextual factors and effective reward management impact on organisational efficiency, employee’s effectiveness, motivation, and industrial harmony. Given this entrepreneurial effectiveness in economic development, scholars, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders have sought to explore the underlining traits that distinguish entrepreneurs from the rest of the populace. The focus of this paper was to unveil some of these traits and examine the causal relationship between them and venture creation intention by university graduates, and, the moderating role of effectuation on the traits. Using a survey design approach, data were collected randomly from 243 students in four selected universities across Kwara State, Nigeria. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to analyse the data. Our findings showed that traits such as entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurial skills and effectuation logic were associated with venture creation, while opportunity recognition, risk propensity and entrepreneurial education were not. The moderating effect of effectuation was insignificant. The paper concluded that some of the assumed traits in extant literature have been insignificant in this study. Hence, the paper, therefore, recommended that more research needs to be carried out to unveil other important underlying behavioural traits affecting entrepreneurs in Kwara State, Nigeria.
G. It goes on to reason that a decaying public sector would give rise to inefficient private sector. This paper examined the problems and Prospects of privatization and commercialization of public enterprises in Nigeria is the attempt to help the general public to know about the privatization and commercialization and how they have affected the development of the Nation. Although, some of the problems facing public- owned enterprise were examined as well. It looked at the pressure on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to fully implement the structural adjustment program that leads to massive deregulation, privatization, and commercialization of public owned enterprises. In addition, it looked at the merits if any, of privatization and commercialization through extensive theoretical review of the performance of the private enterprise in Nigeria. Theories, rationale, and challenges of privatization and commercialization were addressed. The conclusion was that privatization is a good policy measure, which must be pursued with vigor, truth, sincerity, and transparencies even though the government is using such policies to foster a new division of labour between the public and private sectors in a bid to order, increase the efficiency and contribution to the development of both sectors. Privatization and commercialization in Nigeria will be a mirage unless institutional reforms take place. The government should create an environment favorable for private economic activity. This can be done by showing zero tolerance for corruption, nepotism, and misuse of public funds and property by both government and non-government officials.
UNUIGBOKHAI, Olufemi Anthony, Unuigbokhai, A. To many industry experts, teamwork is a part of everyday life; whether it’s at home, in the community or at work, we are often expected to be a functional part of a performing team. Team building involves a wide variety of activities, presented to organisations and aimed at improving team performance. It is a philosophy of job design that sees employees as members of interdependent teams rather than as individual workers. Team building is an important factor in any work community/environment, its focus is to specialise in bringing out the best in a team to ensure self-development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work closely together as a team to solve problems. And, as a response to the prevailing and dynamic nature of change, companies and organisations are having difficulties in achieving sustained performance. They are forced to look for new management approaches to develop a cutting-edge process to deal with existing trends and developments. The effectiveness of organisations accepting and adapting to team spirit will determine the growth, development and the ability to understanding the workings of SWOT matrix for better job performance. In spite of many studies carried out by scholars and practitioners in the area of team building/team work over the years, much still need to be done about team building and factors inhibiting its successes. This paper, however, offers a balanced approach to the relevance of effective team building and or sustaining Nigeria organisations as well as finding ways that will enable it becomes a top-notch team performers in this century and beyond.
Dr. Nwafor E. This study adopts the ex post facto research design and collected data from the CBN and National Bureau of Statistics over the period 1986 to 2022 culminating in thirty-six (36) years. The study conducted the unit root test using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller test and found all variables to be stationary at level which denotes that there will not be any spurious result in the study. From the analysis, the study found that there is an existence of an equilibrium relationship among the variables and over 98% of disequilibrium can be corrected over a year. From the OLS, the study found that the monetary policy rate has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between government administrative expenditure and economic growth in Nigeria. On the other hand, the study found that the monetary policy rate has a non-significant moderating effect on the relationship between public social expenditure and economic growth in Nigeria. The study concludes that the monetary authority should be sensitive in directing its policies such as interest rates because they indirectly impact government expenditures that can propel economic growth. The study recommends that the monetary authority use an expansionary monetary policy to reduce interest rates and encourage more investment, stimulating economic growth in Nigeria.
AWUSA, Peter Ewa Copyright (c) 2024 AWUSA, Peter Ewa https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://publications.afropolitanjournals.com/index.php/ajmbr/article/view/657 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Organizational Behaviour and Task Delivery of Administrative Staff in Tertiary Institutions in Rivers State https://publications.afropolitanjournals.com/index.php/ajmbr/article/view/670
The study investigated Organizational Behaviour and Task Delivery of Administrative Staff in Tertiary Institutions in Rivers State. The economic growth and development of an organisation invariably depends on the organisational culture, norms, custom, morals and belief, though, given less attention in our society today. Organisational culture is the underlying beliefs, assumptions, values and ways of interaction that contributes to the unique social and psychological environment of an organisation. Culture is considered the “glue” that holds an organisation/society together, and for others, the “compass” that provides direction. The desire to learning and knowing things around us, therefore, is a fundamental part of human existence. From birth, however, human development and knowledge acquisitions are a learning process through which we explore and come to terms with our environment, workplace, and we soon discover that we are not alone, and in the paradox of human existence both compete with others for scarce resources and cooperate to find and share them. Human beings have to be curious, competitive and cooperative; both as individuals and as social group; we ensure our survival either by attempts to dominate others by ways of imposing our cultures and traditions on them for one reason or the other for mutual benefit. In the same vein, human beings for millions of years ago have wanted to dominate others either for economic, political, religious, social, cultural, or selfish reasons, etc., the maintenance of our cultural norms and practices have taken a centre stage in our day-to-day activities. This paper therefore, is built on previous theoretical and empirical studies to determine the extent to which contextual factors and organisational culture impact on organisational harmony, HR team work, and productivity.
