Spatial Distribution Pattern of Commercial Facilities in Adamawa State, Nigeria
Main Article Content
Abstract
In regional studies, flourishing commercial activities and facilities are crucial to socio-economic and regional development. However, studies have shown that spatial inequalities in the spatial distribution pattern of facilities hinder development and lower the living standard. Therefore, this study assessed the spatial distribution pattern of commercial facilities and the effect of the spatial distribution pattern on community development and quality of life in Adamawa State. Consequently, questionnaires were used to seek secondary data on the spatial distribution pattern of commercial facilities from secondary sources (both local and state government ministries and boards) in the state. The collected data were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics. The spatial concentration map of commercial facilities in the study area was generated through geospatial techniques. The result of the study revealed an inadequate and unequal spatial distribution pattern of commercial facilities in Adamawa State. Recommendations on the need to formulate and implement policies that will boost commercial development in the state were made.
